Chris Farley, Motivational Speaker: The Role As Matt Foley Will Always Be Remembered

It was in December 1997 when the world lost Chris Farley, a well known actor and personality, best known for his funny performances in a television program called Saturday Night Live. He made himself famous for portraying the character of an obese man named Matt Foley who was really the not your typical kind of motivational speaker. His character was not really the epitome of an ideal motivational speaker but still he managed to pull his role as such. Come to think of it, what made Farley what he was on television can be credited back to the degree (theatre and communications) he had earned from studying at Marquette University. Even though he died a controversial death at the age of thirty-three, many people would still remember the funny Matt Foley character that was always ready to motivate youngsters by telling them not to imitate his life so that everything in their lives would not amount to ‘jack squat’.

Chris Farley’s skits as Matt Foley, the motivational speaker, were so consistently done that most of us, especially the young ones, would want to be on the right track so that we wouldn’t end up living in a ‘van down by the river’. That was indeed so much for a motivation.
