Noni Juice Products : Do The Benefits Outweigh The Potential Side Effects?

Google Buzz

Noni juice comes from a fruit called noni. This is a small tropical tree that was first seen in Southeast Asian countries. It has spread through India and to many other countries in the Pacific, including Tahiti. This tree can grow in pretty much any terrain and produces between 4 and 7 kilograms of fruit each month.

The fruit has a pungent smell and this is the reason why some people call it the “vomit fruit”. Despite its pungent smell though, this fruit is eaten even as staple food in some islands in the Pacific. In the market, there are noni capsules available, as well as bottles of noni juice. They are both classed as supplements but do not fall under the drug category.

As some producers claim, it helps build and strengthen the bones, deter premature aging, and improve cardiovascular health. It is believed to be a good antioxidant which reduces the production of bad cholesterol which prevents arteries from clogging up.

Keep in mind though, that drinking this juice (or taking the capsule) is not for everyone. Although considered “herbal”, this does not mean that, as with any herbal supplement, you are immune to problems if you mis-use it or if you suffer from certain health conditions. People who are suffering from some specific conditions should take extra precaution when using any noni products.

For example, as the fruit is high in glucose (or sugar) content, diabetic patients should steer away from it to make sure that their blood sugar levels will not be altered. Also, those prone to constipation should seek medical advice before consuming it as, drunk in large quantities, it can cause constipation. Being constipated could spell a lot of trouble and could be very inconvenient and painful. In fact, prolonged constipation may damage the intestines and the colon.

Another side effect that some people claim they had was coughing. This side effect may be a sign of their allergy towards the fruit and so if you are someone who suffers from food allergies you should only try a little noni juice at first, so that you can assess your reaction to it.

If you decide that noni juice benefits are something you would like to experience first hand, then my recommendation is to stay away from overpriced noni juice products sold through network marketing companies.
